Jim's kites:
Firebees
A very low
cost quad line foil, Jim owns 3m2 and 6.5m2 versions. The 6.5m2 gives plenty of power in very little wind.
Made by Rhombus of Germany.
Rowdy
5.5
Precursor to
the firebee, the Rowdy is a very sturdy 5.5m2 parafoil, which can
be folded up at the ends to reduce it to about 2/3 it's
normal size. This is useful if you only want to take
one kite out on a day when you're unsure of the wind
strength, but the efficiency of the folded up version
is reduced, making it slightly sluggish.
BBV
From Free Spirit, the BBV is 3m2 of pure fun. Flown
on 2 lines, it whizzes around the wind window and generates
serious pull in turns (has busted 300lb lines before
now). My first ever power kite and in many ways still
my favourite.
Nasawings
These kites
fly in zero wind! Jim builds his own and has a 7m2 version and a smaller
ladybird design in production. Jim will make these to
order any size cheaper than you will find in the shops.
